High Performance Payload for Low Light Operations

From military activities, to security of industrial assets, search and rescue of people to patrolling certain areas, many applications require quality night vision to identify and observe objects at night and dark spaces. The complexity and scale of projects within these industries can expose many risks and challenges to operations and their people. However, as drone technology continues to evolve, many organizations are choosing to adopt this technology in Canada and worldwide thanks to its significant results, improving efficiencies and saving lives.

Not only are thermal cameras extremely useful in inspection applications to identify moisture, insulation, and more, but they can also be beneficial for search and rescue; specially when these are incorporated in drone payloads assisting complex night operations as DJI has demonstrated with the Zenmuse H20N.

Better than an Owl's night vision, the Zenmuse H20N drone payload integrates starlight sensors into its zoom and wide-angle cameras to identify and observe objects and targets at night. Additionally, you can pair this with double zoom thermal sensors and a laser rangefinder for a dual payload.

The Zenmuse H20N Thermal features include a variety of colour palettes allowing you to adjust colours applied to thermal data based on your mission requirements, among other features such as:

- Isotherms: visualize a specific band of temperatures to highlight your targets.

- Temp. Alarm: receive instant notifications in DJI Pilot when object temperatures exceed your pre-set alert values.

- Gain Modes: adjust gain modes to change the temperature range captured. High Gain Mode covers a smaller temperature range but is more sensitive to temperature differences; Low Gain Mode covers a wider temperature range.

- R-JPEG Image format: Images captured by the Zenmuse H20N are in R-JPEG format with embedded temperature information. By importing these images into the DJI thermal analysis tool, you can measure temperature, and adjust parameters such as emissivity, and reflected temperature.

The ZenmuseH20 offers 640x512 dual thermal sensors, including a 2x zoom and another 8x zoom, so when you identify a heat point of interest, you can simply zoom in to find its source, thus saving pilots precious time, especially when each second counts.

Execute Your Operation Decisions with Certainty

Being certain to make timely decisions during low light operations is vital for the best possible outcomes. This can be accomplished through enhanced visibility. With a synchronized split-screen zoom you have the ability to display both thermal and visual sensors enabling increased visibility in low light missions and higher certainty identifying target objects.

As drones become essential tools for public safety crews and inspection teams, it is crucial that payloads are resistant and durable enough to withstand extreme weather conditions, making the H20N the perfect choice to meet these requirements with operating temperatures from -20 to 50 degrees Celsius.

During a search and rescue operation or security missions, rapid positioning information from the payload is important to receive precise coordinates of moving objects. For this reason, the laser rangefinder in the Zenmuse H20N is highly valuable, providing a detection range from 3-1200m and an accuracy of +/- 1 meter.

The Zenmuse H20N can be mounted onto the M30 series and the Matrice 300 RTK drone and stream live video to the DJI Pilot App which can also be recorded.
